LIBRARY OF THE UBA

The library of UBA has nearly 6000 printed items, most of which are related directly to the theatre. The library also preserves old editions of plays and drama materials from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th.

There is a separate section, which contains a collection of plays, published by the former Theatre Department of the Culture Committee, as well as typed copies, mimeographical editions and many more.

The library possesses a significant stock of reference materials, including dictionaries, encyclopedias, reference books and albums.

UBA’s management, through its library, strives for preserving and establishing the remembrance of the theatrical art. In the library, one can find all original machine-typed copies of the observer reports, the files of Theatre magazine and “Homo Ludens” magazine, which is published by UBA, in addition to Theatre Bulletin and Gestos, which are no longer published.

The information fund comprises documents for Bulgarian authors and theatres, including biography and artistic data, theatre repertoires as per seasons, theatre posters, playbills and other materials. Over the last 13 years, it receives press clippings from all Bulgarian newspapers, containing reviews of the performances.
The information, documents, books and computer services of the library are used by UBA members at preferential terms.
